Modern Crop

Project Description:

Modern Crop is a hemp processing and CBD oil production facility.

The facility consists of an office, lab, isolation room, distillation room, extraction room, mechanical extraction, receiving/storage, and staging area. The extraction room is a classified hazardous area due to the process involved. Parsons provided design/build services for the lighting, power, and fire alarm systems, preparing all construction drawings, and providing installation of the electrical systems. Due to its innovative technology not being specifically addressed by current building codes, extensive research was conducted to ensure that the installation in the process areas satisfied the local building and electrical inspector’s requirements.

A new 1600 amp, 277/480 volt electric service serves the building. The power distribution system consists of lighting panels, mechanical equipment panels, process equipment panels, and receptacle panels. A 300 KW standby generator was also installed.

Lighting consists of energy efficient LED fixtures throughout the facility. The extraction room included Class I, Division 1 explosion proof fixtures. The lighting control system was designed to conform to the latest energy conservation code. Exterior lighting consists of wall mounted fixtures, and pole lights for parking lot and driveways. Exit and egress lighting to meet the building code requirements were also provided. Parsons provided all lighting system design.

Power consists of general use convenience receptacles throughout the facility, HVAC & plumbing equipment power, and (66) pieces of process equipment.

Low voltage systems included fire alarm.
