Aichi Forge USA, Inc.

Project Description:

Aichi Forge manufactures engineered hot impression die forging products for the automotive industry. Their processes include custom impression die forging and powdered metal sinter forging. They are one of the largest power users in Central Kentucky.

The project included adding a new 15 KV electric service and several pieces of distribution equipment for new production lines. Parsons provided design/build services, preparing all construction drawings and installation of the electrical systems.

Aichi Forge’s (3) existing 15 KV services were near being completely loaded and the addition of new production lines required a new service. The new service consists of a 720 amp, 13.8 KV electric service from an overhead distribution system to an outdoor 15 KV main switch, indoor 15 KV switchgear lineup, and associated underground feeder. Provisions for a future 5th electric service were incorporated into the project. Parsons closely coordinated the power system design with Aichi Forge and Kentucky Utilities.

Five new production lines were projected to be installed in the near future. Parsons designed and installed new power distribution system equipment consisting of (1) 2500 KVA, (1) 2000 KVA, (2) 1500 KVA, and (1) 750 KVA unit substations for these new lines. Parsons designed a cable tray distribution system, which provides Aichi Forge with maximum flexibility for future equipment additions. Parsons worked closely with Aichi Forge personnel to provide an engineered power distribution system to serve them long into the future.
