Lakeshore Learning Materials is the premier manufacturer of educational materials for elementary programs and early childhood organizations in the country. The project consisted of two standby generators for their 500K SF distribution center.
Parsons provided design/build services for adding two standby generators to the existing power distribution system, preparing all construction drawings, and providing installation of the electrical equipment.
(2) 600 KW, 277/480 volt diesel standby generators were provided. The generators will power the entire facility during a utility company power outage. Per Lakeshore’s request, the sequence of operation is manual, requiring building personnel to start the generators, open/close (4) circuit breakers on the main switchboards to restore power to the building.
Each generator has a weatherproof enclosure with skid mounted fuel tank sized to provide 48 hours of backup. Manual transfer switches were provided, each with programmable controllers. Remove annunciators for remote monitor were also included.
