Bluegrass Care Navigators is a provider of hospice services in Kentucky. They have been serving communities since 1978. Services they provide include pain and symptom management, assistance with daily living activities, emotional and spiritual support, and medication and equipment management.
This project involved the renovation of an existing two story office building to be their new headquarters. Parsons provided design/build services for the lighting, power, and fire alarm systems, preparing all construction drawings, and providing installation of the electrical systems.
The power distribution system consists of a new 1600 amp, 277/480 volt main switchboard; (2) distribution panels; (2) lighting panels, (4) receptacle panels; (1) IT panel; and (5) step-down transformers. An existing standby emergency generator was re-used to back up the building.
Lighting consists of LED light fixtures. Areas with ceilings have 2×4 fixtures as well as downlights. Areas with exposed ceilings shall have a combination of linear pendant lights, rings, and downlights. Fixtures in private offices are controlled via dimmers with vacancy sensor capabilities. Open area lights around the perimeter of the building are controlled via time clock with override switches. Open areas near windows shall have daylight harvesting up to 15 feet from the windows. Exterior lighting shall consist of wallpacks around the perimeter of the building, LED pole lights in the parking lot. Exterior lighting shall be controlled via timeclock. Exit and egress lighting to meet the building code requirements were also provided. Parsons provided all lighting system design.
General power consists of a 120V duplex outlet on each office wall. Power to open area desk consists of a 120V, 20A floor box at the furniture point of connection. Power to HVAC & plumbing equipment and an elevator was also provided.
The fire alarm system was designed to meet the requirements of the Kentucky Building Code per NFPA 72. A complete ADA compliant system was provided throughout the facility.
